American Bobtail Cattery
Description
The American Bobtail is a medium-to-large, naturally occurring bobtailed cat; a noticeably athletic animal, well muscled, with the appearance of power. The tail should be clearly visible above the back when the cat is alert and should not exceed the hock in length. The “perfect” tail is articulate and nearly straight with the slightest of curves. No two tails are exactly the same. The average tail length is 1 – 4 inches; however, this is an average and some may be shorter or longer. The American Bobtail possesses a strong, broad head, with a distinctive brow set above the eyes, giving it a natural hunting gaze. Its unique coat comes in both a semi-dense shorthair and a medium-length longhair that is resilient and resistant to water. This slow maturing breed takes two to three years to reach full adult type.
American Bobtails are a loving, kind, and incredibly intelligent breed. They easily adapt to a busy environment and bond well with their family. They get along well with most dogs. Long haul truck drivers have purchased them as cabin companions, and psychotherapists have used them in their treatment programs. The American Bobtail is noted for its wild look with an exceptional disposition and adaptability. Don’t let the “wild” appearance fool you, if you are looking for a well-adjusted, socialized, unique, beautiful American Bobtail……..consider a Tsalagi Bobs American Bobtail.
Tsalagi Bobs is home to a small CFA and TICA registered cattery breeding championship lines specializing in brown, red, silver tabby and lynx point American Bobtails. Director and member of the American Bobtail Breeders Club (ABBC) in CFA, and American Bobtail Breed Committee member in CFA.
